Methods of New York Private Detective to Locate Missing People

NYC Private Investigators have been involved in finding a missing person such as fugitives and abducted children through the use of cell phone pinging.  Through the assistance of a cellular network provider, a New York Private Detective can locate a phone connected to their cell phone network either through pinging or triangulation methods. Pinging is a digital process and triangulation is an analog process.

Pinging
A ping on a cell phone is simply the process of determining the location of a cell phone at any point of time by utilizing the phone GPS location capabilities.  While investigating about the missing individual, the New York Private Detective pings to that individuals’ cell phone.  It sends a signal to the particular cell phone and has its respond with the requested data.  When the digital cell phone is pinged, it determines its latitude and longitude via GPS and sends these back via MS system.  The location could be identified within the area of 50 to 300 meters.
However, if a missing person has a GPS enabled cell phone then only the NYC Private Investigators can locate him using the technology.
Triangulation
The triangulation process is used in older style analog cellular phones and digital mobile phones that do not have GPS.  In that case the NYC Private Investigators take the help of a cellular network provider, who can determine whether the phone is within a hundred feet using triangulation.  The cell towers are usually 6 to 12 miles apart (less in cities) and a phone is usually within the range of at least three of them.  By comparing the signal strength and time lag for the phone’s carrier to reach at each tower, the network provider can triangulate the phone’s approximate position.
Similar technology is used to track down lost aircraft and yachts through their radio beacons and satellites, where older cell phone use arrays from cell towers.
